Camping and Painting

Been a while since I've written anything on here. I've thought about it several times but I never feel like I have anything too exciting to write about, until we went camping in the backyard the other night!! Johnny decided it'd be fun to set up our tent in the backyard and camp. So, we did and it was lots of fun. The kids had a blast!! We grilled hamburgers, then made a campfire and made s'mores!! I love s'mores! Turns out Michael and Ryan do too. :) After getting all cleaned up from that, we settled down in our tents. Michael and Ryan all snuggled in their sleeping bags, Johnny and I all cozy on our king size air mattress (only way to sleep in a tent, atleast in my opinion!). We got all laid down around 8:30 and by 10:30 we were headed in to sleep inside. It was so humid outside that Ryan started having a coughing fit and couldn't seem to get past it. Oh well, Michael was the only one who was upset about it, so he slept in his sleeping bag in the floor of his room. Maybe next time we can actually GO camping!

Johnny airing up the air mattress!!

Cooking our burgers~YUM! Johnny's a great griller!Mesmerized by the fire.Enjoying their YUMMY s'mores!

Lately the kids have been wanting to help me cook. So I thought a fun project for us would be to make them some aprons. I think they turned out pretty good. Michael picked baseballs for his and wanted to have the Cardinals on it, Joshua and Jason have been a big influence in that department. We don't watch a whole lot of sports around here. Ryan wanted a football and since daddy's a Vandy fan, we went that route with his. They are very proud of their new aprons! It wasn't as much of a "do it" together project as I was hoping, but they still had fun!

Lastly, I've recently taken on the daunting task of painting our house. I've started in the kitchen and hope to progress out from there. So far, I really like the way it is looking. The rest of the house looks awful now that the kitchen has some character though. Oh well, I'll get it all done eventually.

Wow! You guys have been busy. The tent is really cool! We need to buy one in a few years so that we can do the same thing with our kids.

I love the aprons! You are very good at painting. Will's would have looked like he did it even if I had done all the work.

Your kitchen looks really nice too. I like the red. I think it is a color that is supposed to make you hungry. Perfect for a kitchen!

Love your tent! I hate that you didn't make it all night outside, but those are some great memories that you made. Johnny did a good job on your fire pit!

The aprons look really good! Joshua and Jason are a bit obsessed with sports. Today while sitting in the waiting room, Joshua HAD to know each player, his name, jersey number and the team that he played for. And my all time favorite - is it a good team or a bad team.

Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of your house.

Ahh, great minds think alike! I've had kids aprons on our to do list since we made play-doh, lol...just haven't gotten motivated yet! They turned out great...the boys will make great husbands someday with their enjoyment in the kitchen!

The red looks great! I know how much of a JOB painting that was!

Ya'll have a big tent and just the perfect space in the backyard to have your own campsite! I enjoyed all your pics!

Camping in the backyard with the kids is such a good idea and not too much work. That's my kind of camping...hang out outside for a couple of hours and then sleep in "my" bed when it's really time to go to sleep. I'm not a huge fun of "roughing it". :) I'm glad ya'll had fun! Love the aprons, too, and your kitchen looks great. You're doing all of the painting by yourself. You're a brave woman. :)
